(Image above is a before & after)
My name is Caleb Demere, and I started this fundraiser for my recently widowed stepmother Mary Demere. She lost her entire home and family business(A local seafood and bait shop, as well as camp rental) to the recent hurricane Ida. All this after she just lost her husband(my father) this year, she had been running the family business without him up to this point. She will be looking for FEMA assistance, but it won't ever cover what was lost and it could take a long time to get anything.
She already is paying for evacuation costs(travel, lodging, food, etc.). She will need to cover temporary living expenses for now, but soon also a new home, as well as means to replace nearly all belongings(clothing, furniture, and all other everyday necessities).
The home and business were in Leeville, Louisiana. The town was one of those damaged the most by hurricane Ida. I grew up with great memories of this tiny town which is nearly demolished now. Please help my family, and anyone else in the area if you can.
All proceeds will go to Mary Demere. I will be donating personally, as will many other friends and family. The goal number is arbitrary, and anything helps.
Anyone having issues with the GFM donation system, can message a family member for the address if you wish to send a personal check or such.
I used the image above found in this YouTube drone footage of the small fishing town, courtesy of WXChasing.
