Hurricane Relief for Veterinary Team Members

On August 29th Hurricane Ida hit two of our Veterinary practices in Louisiana. Dr. Wheat, his family, and some of the Animal Care Center/Pet Care Center team did not evacuate. The devastation to the areas surrounding the clinics is indescribable. Staff homes are without power, internet, phones and cell service for what they predict to be weeks. Gasoline is hard to find and the stations that do have it, cars are lined up for blocks. At this time, a trip about an hour out of town is the best option to fill up to power vehicles and generators. Some staff have had to share rides because their vehicles are trapped under power lines and downed trees. Others are displaced from their homes because the damage resulted in their homes being uninhabitable. This amazing group of team members continue to support the clinics and community even while dealing with their own devastation.

When the hurricane hit,  they had over 40 pets boarding between the facilities. Pet Care Center had over a foot of water throughout the clinic but this crew was able to move the boarding pets to Animal Care Center and no animal were harmed. Although the hospital is closed - Dr. Wheat and the team keep the front door open for any emergencies that may walk in.

We have had so many of our own team members reach out and ask how they can help. The company is supporting the needs of the clinic with sending small groups down to support and to drive in supplies from Houston, TX. No packages can currently be delivered which makes shipping in relief supplies for the staff and their families impossible. We decided GoFundMe is our best option to provide financial support the staff members directly. All funds donated on this page will help support the team members and their families during this devastating time. It’s hard to express in words how amazing this team is. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
