
Hurricane Ida Mutual Aid Fund
Support New Orleans East -- a majority Black & low-income community in New Orleans -- survive the damages from Hurricane Ida!
On Sunday August 29th Hurricane Ida made landfall as a Category 4 storm on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina . The storm has left millions of people in New Orleans without power and they will likely be without power or work for the next two months.
ABOUT THE FUND:
Our intention is to raise emergency funds for the families and communities of New Orleans East. This fund will cover the costs of generators, food, water, diapers, supplies, gas & car maintenance, rent, hotel costs and moving costs for those whose rentals are no longer livable. We hope to support around 10 families meet their immediate needs over the next couple of months.
We will make sure to keep a public and transparent accounting of funds as we continue to receive updates.
Budget:
$20,000 - 10 families receive $2,000 each
$1,000 - Generator
$1,000 - Food & Water
$1,000 - Gas & Car Maintenance
$2,500 - Home Repairs
