Hello, my name is Ann, and I've created this fundraiser to support my daughter, Julie. On September 28th, 2022, Hurricane Ian changed many people's realities- including Julie's.

Julie and her boyfriend live on a canal attached to Estero bay, 2 miles from the Gulf Of Mexico. As suggested, they prepared for category 5 hurricane-force winds. Sandbags filled, furniture inside, water, batteries and dry goods purchased. Then, the storm took a turn, straight for them. At 7:30 am, they fled their home to stay with us further inland (Julie’s parents Ann and Don Fraser.)

The first picture they received from a neighbor was @ 2:00 pm, before the surge, and they realized the roof in the photo was theirs- with 6ft. of water already surrounding it. This is the only information they had, as the internet went out- left with no news and no communication.

What they walked into the next day is something hard to imagine. The sea had stormed above the roof and settled right under the ceiling. The sliders had blown out, so they walked into a mess of sea mud and belongings, many not even their own. The realization began to set in: the house wasn't in the hurricane- the hurricane was in the house.

The only choice was and still is to focus on the small moments- step by step, they configure what has happened and what needs to. Every day has been spent dragging out the contents of what once made their house a home.

With a total loss incurred, I ask for your support for Julie. Many friends have asked what they can do to help. It's a question Julie hasn't been able to answer. From socks to a new living space, any amount you can share will allow her to begin to rebuild.
