Hurricane Ian Relief for Jen & Sean

Hi everyone! My name is Erica.

As most of you know, Hurricane Ian has devastated Fort Myers and surrounding areas. Not only do my parents live in Fort Myers, but all of my best friends do as well. I was able to stay in contact with most except one. We lost contact with Jen around 3pm. The last we heard, she was in her house with water up to her chest. It wasn’t until late the next day that I was able to finally reach Jen and Sean. The excruciating pain in her voice while describing what she had just gone through was heart-breaking. I am going to try and tell you all what she told me and maybe you will understand that same heart-break I felt in that moment.

Around 10-12 years ago, the house next door to her parents went up for sale and Jen snatched it up. So she is neighbors with her parents. Jen said she ran outside to find her mother screaming at her to go back inside. Her mother said “GO!!! It’s coming!!!” Jen looked in horror to see a 17ft water surge coming right towards them from the end of the street. They are seven houses in from Estero River. Jen ran inside and said the water was rushing in so fast. She was petrified. By the time the cold water was up to her chest she tried to get out crying and in distress. She just wanted to get to her parents to see if they were even alive. Jen lost everything. She said she thought her mattress would be okay because her bed is so high up and it wasn’t. Her entire life is gone. Jen is a Florida native. Never in her wildest dreams did she ever think her life would get destroyed.

I am making this go fund me to give Jen and Sean a little breathing room. Insurance doesn’t work overnight. It could take months and months! Let’s help Jen and Sean out. Any donation is helpful. You can stay anonymous if that makes you more comfortable. Lives were destroyed by this Hurricane. I know that for me, being out of state makes me feel so helpless. This is a great way to make us feel like we are making a difference even if we can’t physically be down in Florida helping out! Thank you all so much!
