What happened to Southwest Florida due to hurricane Ian is completely devastating, and many of the the residents are left to pick up the pieces. Christy and Jeff are two of the people who have faced the unimaginable because of this storm.
I am Justin Milson, and I am creating this gofundme on behalf of my sister Christy and her husband Jeff.
They had been traveling when the storm was approaching, and when the storm hit. While they could see the storms path, there was no way they could have known the nightmare they would face upon their return. The storm surge caused their house to flood completely - to the point that it is now unlivable and they will have to completely rebuild. They also lost one of their vehicles because of this storm surge.
In addition to this, Christy and Jeff run “Just Livin’ the Dream” charters, and their charter boats for this business have sustained some damage as well. Some of the boats will need several repairs before they are safe to drive, let alone use for business.
Not only will Christy and Jeff be out of work for an uncertain amount of time, they will also be out of their home. While many of the things that were lost or damaged can be replaced, many of their personal belongings are gone, for good.
Imagine leaving for a trip, and returning to a home that had been filled with water, and every item that meant something to you...gone. Suddenly you are faced with decisions you never thought you’d have to make, and now you have nowhere to call home. It can be really difficult to ask for help, and sometimes it is even harder to admit that we need it.
Both Christy and Jeff would never ask for anyone to help them in this matter, because they realize that there are so many others in their position as well. However, this gofundme, and all that is donated, will allow them a moment to breathe. Since is uncertain when they will be able to resume business, the money that is raised here will be a safety net. They will be able to pay for lodging until they have a home again, meals, and anything else they might need to get by until their insurance claim comes through.
The damage that was done by Hurricane Ian is near insurmountable. It is only if we all come together and lend a helping hand that Christy and Jeff, and the people of Florida, can begin to put their lives back together.
