Hurricane Ian- Helping My Mother Start Over
Donation protected
My name is Molly Flynn, and I am fundraising for my mother, Jayne Flynn, after the devastating loss of her home and all her belongings due to Hurricane Ian. My mother recently spent her entire savings to humbly retire in a small mobile home park in Fort Myers, where she continued to work and make a life for herself. It was confirmed today (9/30/22) that the damages caused to her house in Fort Myers, FL, are terminal and that none of her belongings are salvageable; everything has been swept away or suffered severe water damage. Unfortunately, these damages are not covered by her homeowners’ insurance.
My mother is safe. We are so grateful that she was not in Florida during this hurricane as she was visiting with her children in Texas after the birth of her first grandchild. My Aunt had a house in the same mobile park as my mother and is currently assessing the damages to her home. She was in Fort Myers during the hurricane but is safe.
My mother is the strongest, hardest working woman I know. Like many who are just assessing the damage that Hurricane Ian caused, my mother does not know where she will now reside. The donations made to this fund will be used to help her start over, find a new home, and replace any essentials she has lost.
We appreciate anything you can donate to help get my mother back onto her feet. She is not someone who ever asks for help, so I am humbly asking for her.
We remain heartbroken for all the people affected by Hurricane Ian, including my mother's neighbors and friends. Especially those who are still not safe or need shelter. We continue to witness the horrifying damages that Hurricane Ian is leaving in its path.
