Hurricane Ian Help for Colleen and Doug
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Fellow Long Islanders,
Two of our own need our help. Dougie Maltby and Colleen Donnelly Mullen had recently moved to Fort Myers as they start their lives together after being friends since childhood, and they have lost everything in Hurricane Ian. They have each proven that they can handle anything that life throws at them (sometimes over and over, again), but this one is tough to bear on top of everything else. Sadly, Colleen’s mom had recently passed, as well as her sister. The family photos, along with the rest of the house and their belongings and vehicles, were destroyed by 3-4 feet of standing water inside while Doug and Colleen were out of town on business. At last check-in, they were rushing to get across country to Fort Myers to see if anything can be salvaged. But, true to the selfless people they are, they are bringing a truckload of drywall, generators, etc. back to Fort Meyers with them for others who need help!
Colleen and Doug do not like to ask for anything more than prayers, but friends, they need our help. Colleen had been taking care of her blind, disabled, 99-year old aunt, and was just finding out the extent of her aunt’s financial problems (including the fact that the insurance lapsed) when the hurricane hit, meaning everything will need to be repaired or replaced at their own expense). Please seriously and prayerfully consider helping them out as they try to find ways to salvage their lives with nothing more than the bunk in Doug’s semi to stay in.
