Hurricane Helene: A Home for the Youngs
Donation protected
Meet Matthew & Jerri Young, northern McDowell County residents who have been greatly impacted by hurricane Helene. Matthew works for Altec, while Jerri is a social worker in Yancey County who has been tirelessly helping others displaced from the hurricane all while her own family doesn't even have a home. When Helene came through, heavy rainfall caused a landslide taking out the bank & retaining wall holding up their home and driveway. What is left of their home & property has now been deemed uninhabitable. In spite of such devastation some hope was restored when an amazing nonprofit disaster relief group, God's Pit Crew, stepped up & graciously agreed to donate the Young's a brand new manufactured home. However, with their current property deemed unsafe they must purchase a new piece of land to put it on. This is where we hope we can help! Between juggling a mortgage payment for a home that is no longer inhabitable, rent for the temporary housing, basic life necessities, & preparing for their last child to start college in the fall, Matthew and Jerri need help with the land purchase. We are hoping and praying our family and friends near and far can help us reach our goal & let's get the Young's into their new home! If you are able to contribute to this need, we would be so grateful. If you cannot contribute at this time, would you be willing to share their story? Thank you for helping our friends Matthew and Jerri!
