Hurricane Florence Rescue Expenses
After a plea for help for the animals in the path of Hurricane Florence, I received a picture of a bus picture with this message: "I live in Knoxville and prepared for an emergency evacuation of pets. Let's talk." Within just a few hours, Tony Alsup with EARS Emergency Animal Response & Shelter was on his way to South Carolina to be better positioned to respond, waiting for direction. We put him in touch with Holli from Suwannee County Animal Services so they could coordinate and between Tony, Holli, and an amazing network of rescuers, we were able to evacuate over 100 animals from shelters in SC ahead of Hurricane Florence. Tony's bus transported 52 dogs and 10 cats to safety! Here's the thing... The bus has no air conditioning. Tony and the animals have been driving through the night to avoid the heat and the already stressed animals are scared, confused and HOT! We'd like to raise funds for a generator and window air conditioner and to help cover gas and expenses. Rescuers are doing the tough part, they are in the shelters saving lives, networking through the night to save as many as possible, and heartbroken for the ones left behind. The heartache is real and it takes a toll on those gifted with a rescue heart. Please help us support them. This is not over, it's only the beginning... please keep everyone affected by this disaster in your thoughts and prayers.
