Dear friends and family,
It is with a heavy heart that we write this message.
For those of you who aren't aware, hurricane ETA stroke Honduras (the country I was born in) last week as a category 4 and is now heading to Florida. Due to strong rain, it flooded several areas from Honduras. Lives were lost and countless amounts of material things were ruined.
To put things into perspective for my American friends, in a third world country where 66% of the population lives under poverty and the minimum wage is around $300 per month, it is extremely challenging to recover many of the material possessions that were lost the past week. $25, which is what you would spend on fast food here in the US, goes as far as feeding a family of 4 back home.
3 relatives with their families + our grandmother were able to get out of the flooded zone in time. However, they've lost everything, literally everything.
My goal is to raise $5,000 to help my family rebuild their lives from scratch. It is a group of 10 people, including our 92 yr old grandma, a toddler, cousins, and several uncles and aunts ranging in ages between 60-70 yrs old.
This fundraising will be used to buy them personal hygiene items, groceries, clothes, kitchen utensils, all the way to beds, stoves, and fridges.
My wife and I will also be collecting clothes, food, and medical donations here in the Charlotte area if you would like to support that way. This will be sent out to all other affected parts throughout the country.
