Hurricane Beryl help for Grenada Sailors

Hi we are Sailing Saviour a couple on our boat Saviour in Grenada.

Paulyne and Dr Rob Johnston from the UK we sailed across the Atlantic and fell in love with Grenadians and Grenada.

We want to do all we can to help the people whose only home their boat has been damaged and are stuck on beaches, rocks and in the mangroves.

Some are still stuck on their slowly sinking boats with no where to go. The boat being their only home in the world having sold up and travelled to beautiful Grenada.

It’s been a week since hurricane Beryl hit and destroyed so much in its path. There are many go fundme’s for all the islanders who sorely need all the help they can get. Aid is coming in from all over the world. Thankfully they have food and water and now they need to rebuild their homes.

So please donate to charities that are helping with this they still need construction materials and manpower, tools etc.

We are also supporting the ‘Ocean Cruisers Aid’ as they galvanise boats from all over the Carribbean to bring much needed aid to all.

We thought we would set up one for the sailing community as many people are still stuck on their damaged boats. They are trying desperately to save their boats, all the while looters are now visiting and stealing off the boats.

Also

The environmental consequences of just allowing these boats to sink will be far reaching to the marine life and local fishermen. The bio hazards leaching into the water from the diesel, plastics etc is already and will be devastating.

We want to raise money to get a tug and much needed equipment to go and lift and pull these boats to safety where they can be repaired and rebuilt.

Not left to sink and rot.

We also want to help the sailors on these boats with whatever they need. Some are trying to sleep on their boat at a 45 degree angle or wading through dirty water while all belongings are rotting around them.

Let’s help them out of this misery and also save the environment and marine life.

We are working with Aquarius Marine Services, Shaun and Shelley Thaysen who are in Carriacou now and during the hurricane on their boat in the mangroves.

Money raised will go to supporting them get the right equipment to assist in saving sailors only homes.

They are working tirelessly despite having been through this hurricane and suffering damage to their own boat.

Any very small amount you can give is deeply appreciated.

Unfortunately many boats owners are not covered by insurance in a named storm they have really have lost everything.

We have an engineer and a marine biologist on the ground in Carriacou who we will be sending any funds raised for this purpose. We also will be giving funds if needed to rescue the boats here in Grenada.

This is a humanitarian disaster of epic proportions and an environmental disaster in the making.

We together can make a difference.
