Hurricane and now medical relief for Jesse and Saibra
Donation protected
Hi! I’m Harriet and I am running this go fund me for a friend that has been devastated by hurricane damages, and now her husband is in the hospital and out of work.
Two years ago in 2021 Jesse McCarson an Army Veteran was diagnosed as Pre Diabetic. On Friday 12/27/2024 he was informed by the Rutherford VA that he actually is Type 2 Diabetic and placed on various medications and care.
On 12/31/2024 Jesse McCarson an Army Veteran was taken to Rutherford Regional Health System in Rutherfordton, NC for migraines. He was treated and sent home. Over the next two hours his symptoms became harsher and worsened. They extended to extreme pains in his lower abdomen and back that he couldn’t handle. Noticing that his skin color has turned white and purple his wife Saibra Sorensen-McCarson rushed him back immediately. He was taken directly taken back and immediately admitted into the ER and shortly later ICU. It was discovered that he was Diabetic ketoacidosis and an infection that was sepsis level. A central picc line was placed and Jesse was placed under constant observation and care which he continues to be. It has been discovered that back in 2021 Jesse was misdiagnosed when he was told he was pre diabetic and it is now believed he already was diabetic and has been untreated this entire time.
Due to this both Jesse and Saibra have missed work. Which has been awful as they are still trying to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene 9/27/2024 which caused about 50-60k in damage to their property, home and taxidermy business. Some of which insurnace has paid out for but a good chunk, they did not. As of right now FEMA has not responded as to if they will be assisting. There is still a remaining estimated 20k in cleanup damage on the property alone. Not to mention the damage to Saibra’s storage building which holds her shop items.
Saibra and Jesse also take care of Saibra’s disabled mother whom lives with them and their eight year old son.
Of course, just like many others. Their bills are due at the first two weeks of the month and they are a bit concerned and stressed out.
Saibra has asked for friends, family and clients to either make purchases or share her poshmark and eBay links and has offered extra discounts to try and make up for the losses.
You can find those at:

If you would not like to make a purchase but would like to help by making even the smallest of donation towards their mortgage, electric bill, insurance, and car payment which are due/within the next week it would be most appreciated. As far as the actual hospital stay, between the VA and Jesse’s work insurance that should* be covered so they are very grateful for that.
Thank you for any consideration at all.
