Hurrican Ian-Flood Relief for Hannah Long Family

I am the mother of Ms. Hannah C. Long, and grandmother to her adorable son Theo.

Hannah and her family reside in Fort Myers, Florida, which was recently devastated by Hurricane Ian.

They are now homeless, jobless, and with no remaining personal belongings. No power, no water (boil order), flooding everywhere; we consider our family lucky to say the least, as everyone is at a minimum safe and dry.

While their home is physically standing, it is and will remain inhabitable due to the amount of interior flooding and exterior damage. The interior flooded with at least 6 inches of sewage filled water, which ruined personal items and the day-to-day necessities. The exterior was decimated, to include the roof (or what is left of it). Half of the hurricane shutters were ripped off, and their vehicles are flooded, leaving only one operable.

Hannah was employed at the “Whale” Restaurant and Bar, which is no longer standing. The entire structure was flattened and swept away.

Hannah and family will be returning to Illinois empty handed, as they have literally lost everything due to flooding and sewage. Hannah has applied for FEMA assistance but given the overwhelming number of requests they are receiving; no additional information or time timelines have been provided.

We are only one family’s story of thousands here in Southwest Florida, and things here are unimaginable. We are beyond grateful for any contributions, even if it is just a few bucks.

Monetary donations will be dispersed to Hannah by me directly for temporary housing assistance, gas, and food. Your support to help Hannah and her family rebuild what has been destroyed is invaluable.
