Hunter has battled severe health issues his entire lite, requiring constant hospitalizations and multiple transplants. Born with intestinal issues, he later developed kidney complications and is now in need of a third transplant at 21. Despite excelling in math and science, teaching himself programming at 15, and studying computer science at BYU-Idaho, he had to drop out due to illness.
