Sarah and Bubba (Ryan) Trafka have grown up in Thomaston, and have chosen to raise their children in this wonderful town. Their oldest child Hunter, entered this world 9 weeks early on September 13, 2010. Not only did they tackle the world of premature babies, they also learned that he had hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a condition where extra cerebral fluid builds up in the brain, causing too much pressure and adverse side effects. Hunter underwent his first brain surgery at 7 months of age, his second at 2 years of age, and his latest one on December 8, 2016.

Sarah and Bubba are amazing people with a huge sense of pride. They have never asked for help, and they still are not asking. However, I am asking for people of the community to help. The latest surgery was not planned. There was no warning that the port in Hunter's head would fail and he would be crying from headaches. They literally had 1 week to arrange days off from work and childcare for their infant daughter. All of the time off they have taken has been unpayed, with Christmas around the corner. Hunter is a fighter, and has the brightest outlook on the whole situation. His number one complaint when he facetimed my boys was not that he was hurting or upset about not being home. He was upset that he was bald. He loved his free flowing crazy hair he had going into surgery. Hunter was released from the hospital on December 10, but will have quite the recovery ahead of him. They replaced his port with a shunt to drain the extra cerebral fluid right into his stomach.
