On March 17, 2024 at 12:17PM, Hunter and Kelbi Coleman welcomed their son Preston James into the world at 7 weeks early. He is a healthy boy, however, he has faced the common obstacles that a premature baby does whenever they are born preterm.

Just like all expecting parents, Hunter and Kelbi were prepared for Preston with the mindset that he would be welcomed into the world and then brought home shortly afterwards to begin their life as a family of 3. Unfortunately, they were given a battle that no parent ever anticipates. With Preston being born at the gestational age of 33 weeks, he will have to put his journey home on hold as he spends some time in the NICU growing.

Being a NICU parent is a trying time that nobody can ever prepare themselves for. It involves leaving your brand new child over night for multiple nights in a row, extra hospital and doctor bills, extra expenses such as gas getting to and from the hospital, picking up food anytime you have the chance to eat, and paying for parking at the hospital every single day. On top of all that, you have to also purchase items that aren't normally thought of when planning for the birth of your child. Some of these things includes preemie clothes, bottles, pacifiers, diapers, and specific materials needed for raising a premature baby. Having a child preterm also means that you miss more work than originally planned for. So while the expenses go up, the paychecks and paid time off goes down.

This fundraiser is to help Hunter and Kelbi get through this trying time with their son, Preston. With the monetary help of others to get through the financial side of the situation, they will be able to solely focus on Preston growing and coming home as soon as possible.
