Hunter Anderson's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Anyone who is lucky enough to know the Anderson family knows they are a special bunch: active members of their tight-knit community, year-round adventure seekers in the Rocky Mountains they call home, and dearly beloved friends and family to many of us both near and far.

Recently the Andersons have been faced with a horrible reality that no family should ever have to face. Five year old Hunter, brother to twin sister Hailey and older sister Emery, was struggling with stubborn congestion that wouldn’t go away. When the left side of his face began to swell, they took him to the hospital to get it checked out, just in case. Fast forward a harrowing few days later and Hunter was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a rare type of cancer that forms in soft tissue, usually affecting children.

The growth was first spotted in his head; it is behind his nose and eyes, touching his brain. It has also spread to his lymph nodes and he is showing cancer in his left arm and collarbone. Hunter’s case is classified as advanced.

To make matters worse, he is positive for FOXO1 rearrangement, a gene that will spread the cancer and make recurrence more likely. This is why it's already spread to other areas of his body, and unfortunately will require him to get chemotherapy treatments once a month for the rest of his life, beyond his initial 42 week treatment plan.

Hunter and his family have a long, painstaking road ahead and could really use your support. Funds will go towards:

  • Current medical bills associated with Hunter’s treatment; though they have great insurance, not everything will be covered.
  • Travel costs associated with weekly overnight trips to Denver for the next 42 weeks – Hunter will receive treatments at the children’s hospital in Aurora, Colorado, 3.5 hours away from their home in Carbobdale.
  • Extra financial support – Hunter’s mom Kristen will be unable to work most weeks and limited hours other weeks at best during this time as she cares for him.

Please share this with your community and contribute what you can to help Hunter and his family get through this. THANK YOU for your prayers and generosity.
