My name is Jennifer Hunt (67), and I am posting this on behalf of my husband, Thomas Hunt (60), who is too proud to ask for help himself. Tom has been diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal prostate cancer that has spread to six areas of his body. In March 2024, our youngest daughter—four months pregnant at the time—was also diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Genetic testing revealed that Tom carries the BRCA-1 gene mutation, which he passed to two of our daughters. Despite a normal PSA in 2023, by October 2024, his levels had risen to 10.6, and scans confirmed cancer that had invaded nearby structures and metastasized to his bones and spine.

Tom began treatment with two costly cancer medications, Nubeqa and Orgovyx, in December 2024, which insurance thankfully covered at the time. His oncologist prescribed six rounds of chemotherapy (Docetaxel), but severe reactions forced the treatments to stop after four rounds. The side effects left him with memory loss, concentration issues, and painful neuropathy in his hands and feet. His doctor recommended physical and occupational therapy and urged him to apply for Social Security Disability due to the lasting effects.

In June 2025, Tom lost his job and his insurance. Without coverage, his radiation therapy was delayed until he could qualify for marketplace or Medicaid insurance. He finally began radiation in September 2025, scheduled for 28 sessions. Unfortunately, his unemployment benefits ended in August, and although he was quickly approved for Social Security Disability, payments won’t begin until January 2026 due to the mandatory five-month waiting period.

I have been on disability since 2001 for degenerative disc disease and other chronic conditions. When I turned 67 in February, my benefits converted to regular retirement, and my small monthly check is now our only income. We’ve cut expenses to the bare minimum, but it barely covers our basic bills. I’ve started doing delivery gigs for Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Instacart, but with my health issues, I can only work a few hours a day, earning around $30–$40, which doesn’t make a dent.

Tom is too proud to ask for help, so I am doing this for him. Our savings are gone, our credit cards are maxed, and we are struggling to stay afloat until his disability payments begin. Any donation, no matter how small, will help us bridge the gap and keep our home. We deeply appreciate any support and prayers. Thank you in advance for sharing on social media, and God bless.
