Hung Nguyen's Medical & Memorial Funds

After three long weeks of fighting COVID-19 and losing his father to the same virus, our father, Hung Son Nguyen, passed away on an ICU bed at Community First Medical Center on Friday, January 8, 2021.
When our family first contracted COVID-19 in mid-December, we did not expect to lose our dad to a virus that has taken the lives of so many already.
Dad was a kind, happy, and healthy man who for the entirety of his life was an honorable son, dependable husband, and a loving father. In the early 1990s, our dad sought refuge in Chicago from Vietnam. With almost nothing to his name, he learned a new language, found himself and love in a new place, and eventually earned a Master's in Civil Engineering. He taught us, children, to value our family and education, have fun in life, and above all, eat delicious food.
He dedicated his life to his three children, a recently graduated Materials Science Engineer, Denison University Chicago Posse Scholar, and Taft High School Sophomore—all of who still have many life accomplishments and milestones ahead of them. All of who still have yet to give back for his love and efforts.
Our family is all devastated by our grandfather’s recent passing, and now we must mourn the loss of our father a mere week later. Both cherished members of our family passed without the comfort of family near and without the physical capability to say goodbye. Unfortunately, we are not prepared for the high cost of medical bills and funeral service. We want to give dad the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes.
We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of our father’s funeral and medical bills. Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time. Stay happy, stay healthy.
