Hello, I’m Sophie, cat mum to Humperdinck (AKA Dinky, Rinky Dinky, Dinky Doos, Rizzle Kicks, Stinky, Fluffy Rumpkins) and I’m desperately trying to raise funds to make sure our gorgeous cat gets to spend many more happy years with us.

Dinky is 6 years old and has been with us since we adopted him and his sister from Battersea when they were 3 months old. Having been found in an alleyway, the kittens were saved and hand reared in foster care until they came to our forever home, where they bring us so much love and joy. Dinky has been with us through all our major life changes and he has so much more life, and love, to give.

Dinky has an extremely large tumour on his liver. Great news is that it does not appear to be cancerous and is on the left hand side of the liver so can be operated on to remove it. Removal is the only option due to the severe size of the tumour. He has lost a lot of fat and muscle due to the tumour taking up energy and space in his abdomen. Currently he is well but if surgery isn’t performed in the next couple of weeks it is very likely he will become extremely unwell with further weight loss and pain. If the tumour isn’t removed it will be the cause of him passing over the rainbow bridge much earlier than he should.

Our insurance has covered everything up to this point but we have maxed out our £4000 coverage on the investigation, scans and tests to get to this point. The quote is £5000 for an uncomplicated surgery but if complications arise it could go up to £9000. We are putting forward £1500 from our savings but unfortunately this is all we can contribute personally. We have 2 small children, 2 boys under 2, who also adore Dinky but unfortunately finances cannot stretch beyond the £1500 due to the circumstances.

If you can contribute anything to try and get us to the target for Dinky to be able to have surgery it would mean the world to our family. It’s devastating to know he could live a long and happy life with us, but finances are the only sticking point. If we are able to raise funds, anything over the costs of surgery we would donate to either Battersea or another animal needing surgery.

Even if you cannot personally donate please share this message far and wide. Dinky doesn’t deserve for his story to come to an end based solely on finances. We’re hoping for a miracle, please help us any way you can.
