Humbly asking for help with my dream to be a mom

Donation protected
Hello everyone :)

I’ve gone back and forth on starting this page for myself, but in the end I have decided to do it.  Even if you cannot assist financially, I always appreciate well wishes and prayers!

So, here’s my story.

Back in April of 2020, I began working with doctors at a fertility clinic here in Kalamazoo, to begin moving forward with my dream to be a mother.  Fast-forward to January 18, 2021... I was in the office for my mid-cycle ultrasound with the plan to try conceiving the following day with the donor sperm I had ordered.  After all the work I put into the process, everything was finally in place and set to go.

January 18 began as such an exciting and happy day.  I was going to be a mom... my goal was finally within reach.  After so many years of yearning for motherhood, it was actually going to happen.

What happened next was not part of the plan.  It wasn’t even on my radar.

They found a mass on my left ovary.  The next several weeks moved very quickly with phone calls and appointments, and then surgery.  By February 10, it was confirmed to be cancer.

Needless to say, the last several months have been the most difficult in my life.  Cancer sucks of course, chemo sucks, being sick sucks.  But the hardest part has been trying to grieve the loss of my “should be” pregnancy, and my “should be” baby.  I felt so close to my dream, and now I feel so far away... almost to the point of losing hope.

At this time, I have medical bills amounting to probably just under $20,000.00.  That number is sure to continue going up.  Then, once I’m done with cancer treatment, and can start again with my dream of being a mother, the prices on fertility treatment are infuriatingly high.

So, that’s a lot to read, so I’ll cut it short for now.  I realize I will not meet my goal of $20,000 in donations. But when I say that any amount helps, that is 100% the truth.  Thanks to all!
