Hundreds of thousands of people have been trafficked into Cambodia in recent years and forced to work in the country's multi-billion-dollar cyber-scam industry. Survivors from across the world have endured imprisonment, torture, physical abuse and severe psychological trauma. An enormous law enforcement crackdown has led to the closure of hundreds of cyber-scam compounds across Cambodia. But while some of the compounds are being dismantled, many of the people trafficked into them are not being rescued. Instead, thousands of survivors are being released into Cambodia with nowhere to go, no money, no safe place to sleep and no realistic means of returning home. Our fundraiser exists to support these survivors and help get them home safely.

Help Survivors Escape Human Trafficking in Cambodia

Our first campaign helped support the rescue and return of a group of Kenyan and Ugandan survivors of human trafficking. The cost of their flights home was ultimately secured by other organisations while we used the funds to provide food, accommodation, diplomatic support and flights for dozens of the several thousand remaining victims across the country. Today, thousands more remain stranded in Cambodia with nowhere to turn.

This fundraiser now supports survivors of cyber-scam trafficking compounds across Cambodia who need emergency assistance to rebuild their lives and return home safely.

Many have escaped forced criminality but remain trapped by a different reality. They have no money, no accommodation, expired visas, and often no functioning passport and limited embassy support. Without help, many face homelessness, detention, or being trafficked all over again.

The Crisis

Across Cambodia, thousands of people from Africa, Asia and beyond remain stranded after escaping or being rescued from cyber-scam compounds.

Many were trafficked with promises of legitimate work before having their passports confiscated and being forced to commit online fraud under threats, violence and abuse.

When they finally escape, they often discover there is no coordinated system waiting to help them. Embassies are overwhelmed and international aid organisations have limited resources to respond to this crisis.

Sometimes a survivor only needs a few nights in a guesthouse and help getting to the airport.. Others can require months of support before they can safely return home.

There is no dedicated international fund capable of responding to this crisis.

Governments, embassies, international organisations and charities are working under enormous pressure, but the number of survivors far exceeds the assistance currently available.
