Hull 10k for the BDFA UK

Hi, my name is Ricky and I have decided to run the Hull 10k to raise funds and awareness for the BDFA.
International Batten disease awareness day is on the 9th of June 2025 and I would like to mark the occasion by completing the hull 10k the day before on the 8th of June.
Running this distance will be a challenge for me as I have sciatica. I started training with the aim of completing the 10k distance before the 8th of June so I knew that I could definitely complete it on the day, however my back has other ideas. When I go for a run I am in pain from the start and have to give myself extra time to recover before I go for another. This has meant that training for the Hull 10k has not gone the way I would have hoped for. Currently I can go half the distance, however I am 100% determined and committed to completing this event.
The profile picture on this event is my daughter Emily who was sadly diagnosed with Juvenile Batten Disease when she was 10, and she is the reason why I am running this event and the reason I will be crossing the finish line. The BDFA are an amazing charity and they have given us as a family so much support as they do with all of their Batten community. This Year the BDFA have managed to secure matched funding for international Batten Disease awareness day which means that we really can make a difference as every penny donated to them will be doubled. Please help me to raise as much as possible for such a worthy charity that are extremely close to mine and my family's heart.
