About 80 years ago my grandparents bought their property in Maili, Oahu. Raised their children there and their children’s children as well.

My dad/gramps worked at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard where he later retired. His sons followed suit. One joined the Navy, another joined the Army, the other joined the Air Force and lastly, the eldest of them all, the Marines.

He was a very hard worker. On top of the shipyard, he ran a scrapyard, was a minister, joined the Coast Guard, and became a Commercial Fisherman.

My Uncle now takes care of our home but it hasn’t been easy. As a veteran himself, he struggles to make ends meet. His daughter Chiko aka Lori, made a gofundme account in hopes that he can receive some help.

At this time, I’m at a loss for words. This is my home and it’s heartbreaking to hear about everything that transpired up to this point. I love my Uncle and our family are trying their best to help in whatever way possible but it hasn’t been easy.
