Hugs From Hughes

Natalie Stevenson, Jenn's sister, and Rita Stevenson are representing the charity that has been set up in the name of Hugs From Hughes. Jenn Hughes has been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia for the past 4 years. At the beginning of her journey, she met and became fast friends with Kristy Allred, herself a leukemia patient for the previous 2 years. Kristy knew what Jenn was going through, so gifted her a Minky blanket to give her a virtual hug and comfort during the long days of chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. This blanket went back and forth between these two women as each one fought this dreaded disease. Unfortunately, Kristy lost her battle in September 2021 and Jenn's battle came to a close on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Jenn wanted to pay forward the kindness that had been extended to her by donating a Minky blanket to others in the midst of their own battle with leukemia. This fund has been set up to help defray the cost of obtaining and donating blankets to the patients in East 8 at the Bone Marrow Transplant unit at LDS hospital and others who need the comfort of a virtual hug while battling cancer.
