Hugo Talledo Miranda needs our help!

First and mostly we want to thank everyone for all the prayers our dad has received and continues to receive on a daily basis! We believe in the power of prayer, and God has big plans for our dad still. We thank you all on behalf of our family and our daddy.

Hello, my name is Rolando Talledo. My sisters Gabriela, Maria Alejandra & Karla and myself are helping my family raise money for our dad's ICU (intensive care unit) medical expenses. We were not expecting to do this, but the bills are getting higher by the hour, so our family has decided to raise awareness from our extended family and friends.

Our dad had polio as a newborn. At that time in Lima, Peru there were no vaccines available, so he got infected with the virus. The polio attacked his lower extremities preventing him from walking, even though he tried on several occasions. Years later, he had multiple surgeries all over his spine (over 30 in total). His body has received a lot of abuse over the years, but his willingness and drive to live is simply of a supernatural human. He used a wheel chair most of his life until his health started deteriorating, and he could no longer use a mechanical chair. He switched to an electric power chair that gave him a lot a freedom.

Hugo, or Kike as many of his longtime friends call him, adores his family. He has raised alongside with my mom Yoli, 4 children and now have 9 grandchildren in total. He truly enjoys every second with each and every one of them.

Our dad was returning to Lima, Peru in October of this year when he got pneumonia. The next day of his flight, he told my mom that he was not feeling good, and he felt shortness of breath. They rushed him to the hospital, and immediately did all the necessary medical exams to determine the cause of the problem. He was admitted to the ICU unit almost immediately and by the doctor's orders he was induced to a coma. He was asleep for almost a month and started to improve little by little. He woke up one day dazed and confused, and didn't realize where he was. While he was asleep the doctor's performed a tracheostomy, so he could breathe better and more directly. Now my dad is more stable overall, but he is still in ICU. The doctors will not move him to a room until he can dominate his CPAP machine on his own. We have a long road ahead, but we are certain that my dad will overcome this obstacle once again. He is a true fighter and an amazing human being.

We will use all of the funds to cover part of the already high ICU medical bills and other expenses that his doctors will recommend in the near future.

En primer lugar y antes que nada, queremos agradecer a todos por las oraciones que mi papi ha recibido y sigue recibiendo a diario. Creemos en el poder de la oración, y Dios todavía tiene grandes planes para mi papi. Les agradezco a todos en nombre de nuestra familia y de mi papi.

Hola, mi nombre es Rolando Talledo. Mis hermanas Gabriela, María Alejandra & Karla y yo estamos ayudando a mi familia a recaudar dinero para los gastos médicos de la UCI (unidad de cuidados intensivos) en donde aun se encuentra mi papi. No esperábamos hacer esto, pero las facturas son cada vez más altas, por lo que nuestra familia ha decidido crear conciencia y acudir a nuestra familia extensa y amigos.

El papi tuvo poliomielitis de recién nacido. En ese momento en Lima, Perú, no había vacunas disponibles, por lo que se infectó con el virus. La poliomielitis atacó sus extremidades inferiores impidiéndole caminar, a pesar de que lo intentó en varias ocasiones. Años más tarde, se sometió a múltiples cirugías en toda la columna vertebral (más de 30 en total). Su cuerpo ha recibido mucho abuso a lo largo de los años, pero su voluntad y deseo de vivir es simplemente el de un humano sobrenatural. Usó una silla de ruedas la mayor parte de su vida hasta que su salud comenzó a deteriorarse y ya no pudo usar una silla mecánica. Cambió a una silla eléctrica que le dio mucha libertad.

Hugo, o Kike, como lo llaman muchos de sus amigos de toda la vida, adora a su familia. Ha criado junto a mi mami Yoli, 4 hijos y ahora tiene 9 nietos en total. Realmente disfruta cada segundo con todos y cada uno de ellos. Nuestro papi regresaba a Lima, Perú, en octubre de éste año cuando se enfermó de neumonia. Al día siguiente de su vuelo, le dijo a mi mamá que no se sentía bien y que le faltaba el aire. Lo llevaron de urgencia a la clínica e inmediatamente le hicieron todos los exámenes médicos necesarios para determinar la causa del problema. Fue ingresado en la unidad de cuidados intensivos casi de inmediato y por orden del médico fue inducido al coma. Estuvo dormido durante casi un mes y comenzó a mejorar poco a poco. Un día se despertó aturdido y confundido, y no se dio cuenta de dónde estaba. Mientras dormía, el médico le practicó una traqueostomía para que pudiera respirar mejor y de forma más directa. Ahora mi papi está más estable en general, pero todavía está en la UCI. Los médicos no lo trasladarán a una habitación hasta que pueda dominar su máquina CPAP por sí mismo. Tenemos un largo camino por delante, pero estamos seguros de que mi papi superará este obstáculo una vez más. Es un verdadero luchador y un ser humano increíble.

Utilizaremos todos los fondos para cubrir parte de las ya elevadas gastos médicas de la UCI y otros gastos que sus médicos recomendarán en un futuro próximo.
