Hugh Runs For HER

Hello there,

On Sunday 16th March 2025, I will be donning my 15kg weight vest and running the Bath Half Marathon to raise money for Hyperemesis Education and Research (HER) Foundation.

Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is a potentially life-threatening pregnancy disease that may cause weight loss, malnutrition, dehydration, debility due to severe nausea and/or vomiting, further pregnancy complications, and long-term health issues for mother and baby(ies). In many cases, HG can have a major negative impact to mental health through PTSD, anxiety and depression; financial strain and job loss/difficulties; and even pregnancy loss, including TFMR (termination for medical reasons).

Like so many areas of women’s reproductive health, HG is under-researched and underfunded, despite affecting up to 11% of pregnancies, with 20% of these resulting in TFMR.

The HER Foundation is the global voice of HG progress, providing support, groundbreaking research, advocacy, and education on hyperemesis. HER is dedicated to helping those suffering HG and those who have survived it. Since 2000, they have helped 2.2 million people across the globe.
