Ryan & Hugh Nickerson Memorial Fund
Donation protected
On October 1st our community lost two incredible men.
What was meant to be a father & son fishing outing at the Capilano River ended in the tragic loss of Ryan and Hugh Nickerson.
Ryan & Hugh were adventurers, outdoor enthusiasts, and kind hearted souls who had a wide circle of friends and family.
To me - Hugh was the ideal travel companion and I enjoyed two traveling experiences with him that I'll remember forever. His mantra of "the time is now" is a life lesson that I will always carry with me.
Ryan was a wonderful artist who had a special skill of capturing the beauty that surrounded him and he put his specific touch on the landscapes of North Vancouver.
I write these words to you with the hopes of finding a way to pay tribute to these incredible men while offering solace to those of us who are left behind.
With the funds raised here we will:
- Pay an artist fee and supplies for a mural of Ryan & Hugh to be placed in the North Vancouver community. (Created by Ben Arcega - one of Hugh's close friends from University.)
- Pay for materials and labour of a memorial bench to be installed along the Capilano River. (Created by Mark Wasylyshyn - one of Hugh's close friends from high school.)
- Extra donations will go to the North Shore Rescue team who were incredible in their efforts after the events of October 1st.
We love these men and wish to continue to celebrate them through the presence of art and community gathering spaces. We thank you for anything you can contribute.
All the best,
Ben Turner
