HUG (Help Us Grow) CCMRS
For 31 years CCMRS has provided supported living for adults with developmental disabilities, thanks to the help of many in our community. Now, we are renovating the CCMRS Friendship Park and adding vegetable gardens to the Friesen House to benefit the residents and the neighbors. We are hoping you will participate and HUG CCMRS.
Phase 1 will be the park renovation. The park, behind Hampton Gate apartments, is used by the community including residents, neighbors and other programs for persons with disabilities. It has a large shaded grass area and a basketball court which are a little run down. Our plan is to replace the grass, add ground cover and plants to the flower beds and install a walkway to circle the park and which will make it more accessible to navigate for those who have mobility challenges. Many of the residents and others in the community enjoy Bocce Ball, thus a Bocce Ball court will be added. We will also add additional trees and plants, replace the irrigation system, add hose bibs, and a drinking fountain. Phase 1 is scheduled to be completed by October 15, 2018.
Phase 2 will include fruit trees and raised planter beds for fruits and vegetables in the backyard of the Friesen House. Many of the residents enjoy gardening and this will give them a place to hone their skills and benefit the community with plentiful fresh produce that can be shared with residents, used in resident community meals and shared with neighbors. Phase 2 completion projected for April 1, 2019.
