Help Restore the "Huey" Helicopter

Here at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA our mission is is dedicated to the preservation of a historical memorial including the world’s largest collection of naval warships and historic objects providing the public with an educational experience to honor patriotism and country.

Among our most important objects is the  Bell UH-1C Iroquois "Huey" Helicopter, which was an icon of the Vietnam era.  Ours is serial number 66-00609. manufactured by Bell Aircraft in Ft. Worth, TX  in 1966.  She served two tours in Vietnam.  On March 1, 1969 she was "hit by hostile fire and had a hard landing." After repairs, she returned to Vietnam and completed her service there in 1972.

We won't be restoring her to showroom condition, and she won't be prepared to fly.  We are undertaking conservation to repair and prevent deterioration.  Much of her battle scars will remain to remind visitors of her service to America.  We will undertake this work with your help in the summer of 2017.
