Hudson Street Deli: Sandwich-spread the Love

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Providence community,
As you know, we are in the midst of a health and economic crisis with unimaginable consequences. Everyone is doing their part which includes taking measures to use social distancing to slow the spread of Covid-19. Per Gov. Raimondo’s mandate and in an effort to protect our staff and community, we’ve transitioned to take-out and delivery only. It’s important to us that we remain able to nourish and provide essential staples to our community during this time.
I hope Hudson Street Deli is here for years to come, but we’ve already begun to feel the financial strain as people do what is necessary and stay in their homes to protect the most vulnerable, our health care workers, and first responders. We’ve had to lay off more than half of our dedicated staff, and reduce the hours of those remaining. Even with these measures, we will not survive the loss in revenue due to the current crisis.
For the health of our staff and neighbors, and the survival of our business, we are looking for another way to serve our community.
We are connecting with area non-profits who work to combat food insecurity. Through these groups, we will be connected to people who will fall through the cracks as our system’s services are pushed to their limits. In addition to helping some of our most vulnerable neighbors, we hope to be able to keep our remaining staff safely employed and a small business alive in your community.
Our minimum daily target is 100 meals, prepared safely and with love. We need your help to accomplish this goal. Each meal includes a sandwich, a hearty side (like pasta or potato salad), chips, and a drink. Your $10 donation provides one meal to someone who needs it, helps keep six of your community members employed, and a well-loved local restaurant alive in Providence.
