hi there, my name is Kellie and My 4-year-old son Hudson, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on the 10th of October 2021.
Hudson lives in Wagga Wagga with me (his mum), his Dad, Russ and his best friend and big sister, Stephanie.
Hudson was previously a healthy and happy 4-year-old when he started to become very ill with diabetic keto acidosis, Wagga hospital quickly arranged for him to be care flighted to the Sydney Children’s hospital in Randwick where he spent several days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The doctors and nurses worked so hard to returned Hudson’s levels to a healthy range and conclusively diagnosed him with TYPE 1 diabetes. Hudson will now be faced with a lifelong chronic illness that needs medicinal treatment of 4 insulin injections a day and numerous blood glucose level tests.

We are so happy to hear hudson has been approved for a free continual glucose monitor which will minimise the trauma of several needle pricks a day but the automatic Insulin pump is not currently government funded. Russ and I are doing our best to navigate this new life-long diagnosis, however it is proving to be very difficult for a 4 year old to understand why he needs so many painful injections and also cost-prohibitive with the cost of a basic pump starting at $8,500.

100% of everything donated will go directly to Hudson’s medical expenses, primarily with the purchase of an insulin pump so he can transition into kindergarten next year with minimal disturbances and needles.

Thank you in-advance for your kindness and generosity! Russ and I don’t normally ask for help, however this would mean the absolute world to Hudson and his lifelong journey into managing his Type 1 Diabetes.
