Supporting the Au Family and Continuing Hudson's Legacy

Hello, this is Moriah, Bethany, and Tiffany. We are the siblings of Calvary and Tony coming together to share our sweet nephew's story and rally the community that The Au's have built to uplift them in their journey through grief and building out Hudson David's Legacy.

His Fight
Hudson David was born July 21, 2024 at 27 weeks gestation after Calvary had noticed decreased movement throughout the day and gone into the ER to have things checked out.

It was discovered then that Baby Hudson had developed a condition called Hydrops where there’s an excess of fluid that accumulates around the heart and lungs and abdomen. This condition has many causes but there was limited time to investigate the specific cause. Hudson was clearly in distress and the decision was made to deliver by emergency C-section. The choice for Calvary was simple, to do whatever it took to give her son a chance at life.

Hudson was born Sunday evening breathing on his own, and Calvary was able to see his incredibly precious and beautiful face for the first time. Hudson David Au named for two great evangelists. A testimony already at only minutes old. He was 2lb 9.5 oz and every bit of him a champion from the start.

Given Hudson’s gestational age and the fluid on his lungs, he needed to be intubated and stabilized in the NICU. Once he was stable, the doctors began working furiously to discover the cause of his troubles. Series of tests, labs and ultrasounds were completed in quick succession. Around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning they discovered on an echocardiogram that Hudson had a severe Epstein Anomaly in his heart. The NICU doctor explained in layman’s terms, “the valve that pulls blood into the heart was incompetent.”

Because of the severity of the heart defect, he developed congestive heart failure. Doctors suspect that though the anomaly started in the early days of heart development, the heart failure had most likely developed within a few weeks before birth. Due to his age and size there was nothing they could do to correct the problem. Hudson’s health started to decline shortly after this discovery and the doctors continued to do their best to keep his blood pressure stable. Calvary and Tony quickly returned to his bedside to be with their son in the little time he had left, all while praying for a miracle.

A little after 11 a.m., Hudson’s fight came to an end.  He was ushered into the arms of Jesus while his parents prayed over him and held onto each other, Calvary’s hand held high and open. It was a beautiful picture of complete and total surrender to the will of God in their life.

His Impact
We may not know now why God chose to call Hudson home so soon. But we can follow Calvary and Tony’s example as they follow Jesus. Trusting that no matter the suffering, no matter the pain, there is a greater purpose known to our Heavenly Father that will be revealed in time.

This doesn’t mean we don’t deeply feel the pain that Hudson’s passing leaves. We will always carry it with us, just as Jesus’ body still bears the scars of His wounds. But, it does offer hope that Hudson lives again and each of us can one day join him.

A day is coming when all who believe will be in the presence of the Lord forever. He will wipe away every tear and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.

His Community
So many have sent texts, calls, prepared meals, and prayed for Calvary, Tony and their two children, Liam (5) and Ellie (2). Know that each has been read and cherished. Words fail to express what all of that means. Thank you! Please continue to pray for healing and comfort in the days ahead.

This GoFundMe has been set up for those asking how you might help and those desiring to give something to honor Hudson and ease any unforeseen expenses Calvary and Tony might incur with medical bills and Celebration of Life. True to what we believe Hudson’s personal and kingdom mission continues to be, remaining proceeds will be forwarded to create eternal impact globally.

Thank you so much for your generosity and love for the Au Family.
