Help for the Hudkins Herd

What can be said about Sean and Emily Hudkins? If you know them, you know they are two of the kindest, giving people you can meet. Emily works for Harding University. Setting up the Spring Break Mission Trips and Uplift are two of the biggest parts of her job. Both of these provide so many opportunities to learn about Jesus, both to those ministering and to those being ministered to. Sean runs Zion Climbing Center, a space in Searcy designed to help bring the community together and give students and locals alike a safe place to enjoy fellowship with each other. Zion is an outreach to both the Harding campus and the Searcy community. Sean and Emily have two awsome kids, Hayden and Logan, and are expecting their third God-planned baby Miles.
If you know Sean and Emily, you've surely heard about their current scary situation. At only 28 weeks pregnant, Emily's water broke. She was immediatly rushed to Little Rock (about an hour away from home), and was told to plan to stay there until February 26th (her due date). The majority of women in this situation deliver their babies within a week. Our hope is that baby Miles continues to grow and be taken care of inside Emily's body as long as possible. In an effort to help accomplish this, she is on total bedrest at the hospital, while the baby is monitored for any signs of stress or infection. We hope Emily can "stay pregnant", but the reality is that baby Miles is going to come very early. At his (current) age of 29 weeks, we are confident God is going to protect him and give Emily a safe and healthy delivery. However, a baby this young will have lots of special needs. He will most likely not be able to breathe well (probably requiring oxygen through a CPAP or perhaps even a ventilator), may not be able to maintain his body temperature on his own, and will need help eating. He will be in the NICU until he is strong enough to go home which will most likely be some time in late February.
So either pregnant, or with a baby in the NICU, Sean and Emily know they are in for the long haul at Baptist Medical in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This is where you come in. Financially, Sean and Emily feel very blessed. They have good insurance and Sean will be able to oversee Zion from the hospital, occasionally making trips back to Searcy when necessary.
Still, there are so many other expenses they see in their future. Once Emily has delivered Miles and is released from the hospital, they will not be allowed to stay overnight in the NICU. They are looking at weeks, if not months, of potential hotel expenses so that they can be close to their preemie baby and give him the love and attention he needs. Every meal they eat will need to be bought in the hopsital cafeteria or local fastfood. No homecooked (and less expensive) meals for them until March! There is also the issue of their other children, Hayden and Logan. Sean and Emily are blessed with amazing families, who will be there for them to help take care of the kids. However, this comes with more expenses. Their parents will need to be driving the kids back and forth from their own homes to Little Rock. Its going to be a hard balance for Sean and Emily to spend time with their older children, making sure they are feeling their parents' love, as well as monitoring baby Miles to make sure he is growing and progressing as he should.
For this reason we have started this Go Fund Me account. Any money the Hudkins are blessed with will be going towards their living expenses while in Little Rock- such things as shelter, food, and gas. Not having to worry about budgeting their next meal, or their parents' next trip to Little Rock so they can see their children will allow them to focus all their energy on where it should be- on baby Miles. They know God is in control and He will see them through this, but we can be Jesus's hands and feet to help lessen the stress of these added expenses during this difficult time.
Go Fund Me does not take anything from the fees donated, except for about 2.5% in credit card processing fees (the same anywhere). However, if you feel more comfortable mailing a check or a gift card to them at the hospital, that will be appreciated just as much. Of course, they will appreciate any cards sent allowing them to know you are thinking of them, and they covet your prayers for baby Miles, as well as for the whole family.
Thank you for surrounding this family in love. We are comforted in knowing that God works all things for the good of those who love Him...and we know Sean and Emily love God!
