Huddle Up for Zander
Zander’s story began long before most children ever face medical challenges.
At just 9 months old, Zander was diagnosed with a cavernous malformation — clusters of abnormal, thin-walled blood vessels in the brain that resemble tiny mulberries. These fragile blood vessels can leak blood and cause serious symptoms, including seizures, severe headaches, and stroke-like complications.
Shortly after his diagnosis, Zander underwent his first brain surgery at only 9 months old. Doctors placed a shunt to help drain the spinal fluid that was building up in his brain.
Since the very beginning of his life, Zander has already shown incredible strength and resilience.
But the journey isn’t over.
Over the last several weeks, Zander has been experiencing increased headaches, vision changes, vomiting, and exhaustion, which called for another trip to Riley's Children's Hospital. On March 8th, Zander underwent surgery to replace the previously placed shunt. This is another major step in his medical journey, which will lead to upcoming challenges that come with brain surgery, recovery, and the many medical expenses that follow.
Through everything, Zander remains the same fun-loving kid who enjoys football, basketball, bowling, and fishing. He has a smile that lights up a room and a spirit that reminds everyone around him what courage truly looks like.
This fundraiser was created to help support Zander and his family with the many costs that come with ongoing medical care, including:
• Hospital and medical expenses
• Travel for appointments and treatments
• Time away from work so his family can focus on his care and recovery
Most importantly, your support reminds Zander and his family that they are not facing this fight alone.
If you are able to donate, every amount — big or small — makes a difference. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing Zander’s story so more people can rally around him.
Let’s come together as Team Zander and huddle up for this incredible kid. If you know Zander, you know he’s the kind of kid who brings energy, laughter, and joy wherever he goes. Zander loves life and lives it with a big smile.
Your kindness, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.
