Hubbys Aneurysm Recovery Help
Donation protected
Hi All, this is Tracey, Adam’s partner, and I’m setting up a Go Fund Me to help me with the aftermath of Adam’s illness.
As many of you know, on Xmas morning Adam collapsed with a bleed on the brain. We were in Darwin at the time and was taken to Darwin Royal Hospital where he had a scan, revealing a large bleed on the brain. His right artery had ruptured. He was immediately taken into surgery to have the pressure on his brain released by drilling into his skull. He was then flown by Care Flight to Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide. Here they operated on the aneurysm inserting a coil.
Adam was then in an induced Coma for 2 weeks. During this time he had a total of 5 Angiograms procedures to stop the other artery from being spasmodic. This time was critical as Adam was still in the danger zone of having a bad stroke.
He pulled through it though, and was eventually woken up. The tube had to stay down his throat for several more days causing him discomfort but it was such a relief he was awake.
His left side was very weak but slowly showed signs of improvement. His eye sight is still blurred from all the blood behind his eyes.
He then had another operation to insert the Shunt.
After 5 weeks, Adam is walking with a frame, dressing himself, eating well and getting stronger. He is still often confused but most days shows slight improvement.
We are currently waiting for a bed in rehab near to our home on the Central Coast, NSW. Adam is still in Adelaide but I had to come home last week.
I am trying to raise funds to cover bills that are now accumulating for us. Including 4 weeks accommodation in Adelaide for myself ( air Bnb), Ambulance fee, rego, electricity, air fares, petrol, a huge ICare bill, food etc etc. Surviving on one wage is a struggle but the pets don’t understand, bless them.
Sadly our NMRA Business insurance only covered us for Accident, not Illness. Please double check your insurance if you have it as lots has changed since Covid ! I found out the hard way and Adam’s recovery will likely be 6-12 months, according to the neurosurgeons.
The support and messages I have received over the past 5 weeks has been outstanding and I thank you all. If anyone out there would like to help out further I would be truly grateful. Anything to reduce the stress is a help.
Some may say it’s embarrassing to be in this situation, and it is somewhat, but I can only say that no one has an endless amount of savings if the insurance doesn’t play nice.
Thank you for taking time to read this and thank you again for your ongoing support guys.
Lots of Love, Trace xxx
