Imagine one day you woke up and couldn’t walk or move your head…
Within a week of Indi’s behaviour change this is the outcome.
My beautiful and once healthy, 7 month old German Shepard x Labrador husky is my whole world.
My Indi girls’ health has been drastically declining. It started as being lethargic, a week later, she now can’t stand or move without whining in pain. I’m so worried about my pup as she should be able to have a long life ahead. To continue to diagnose her disease, I need your help. She’ll be under the animal hospital’s watch until she can get better. To start basic tests, pain relievers and fluids I racked up $3000 for the first day of her gone. I miss her but need to get to the bottom of what’s going on. The vet believes she has the rare disease GME.
GME (granulomatous meningo-encephalomyelitis) is a kind of inflammation affecting the brain, the spinal cord and the meninges (the covering of the spinal cord and brain). Seizures, neck pain, drunken gait, walking in circles, blindness, listlessness, tilted head, facial abnormalities, tremors, wobbliness, and weakness can all be symptoms. This is not a disease that can be definitively diagnosed without a biopsy of the affected brain tissue.
For us to get an MRI, I would need to travel to the nearest destination, Saskatchewan. Although, we can complete other tests in Manitoba to rule out other possibilities, we have no funds to help her & have borrowed the money thus far. She needs to be 24/7 supervised with pain medication & fluids for at least the next few days.
Let’s hope these tests will properly diagnose my best friend & bring her home to her beautiful 5 month old St. Bernard brother who misses her deeply.
Anything will help!
Thank you!
