Anyone who knows our mom knows what a kind, selfless, and loving human being she is. We’ve been lucky enough to grow up surrounded by that love every single day, no matter what she’s going though.

Two years ago, we heard the words no one ever wants to hear, “your mother has cancer”. That moment is one we’ll never forget. After learning more, we found out it was cervical cancer. She faced an intense treatment plan– chemo and two types of radiation– and we watched her take it on with unbelievable strength and determination.

With the support of friends, family, and many hospital trips, our mom never backed down. She fought hard and beat it. For the last two years, we’ve been so grateful for every moment, knowing just how precious time really is.

But earlier this year, things changed. Our mom started experiencing pain– something she, like always, tried to push through without making a fuss. After a few hospital visits, we got the news we were hoping to never hear again, “the cancer is back”. The same type, in the same place, almost exactly two years later.

This time around, we know what to expect in terms of treatment: six weeks of radiation, chemo, and immunotherapy. That helps a little. But mentally, it’s been tough– especially since both of us are graduating in May. Despite everything, our mom keeps thinking about us before herself. She’s still cheering us on through school, sports, and clubs, showing the same unwavering strength and love we’ve always known from her.

We’re starting this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial burdens that come with a second fight– hospital visits, treatments, time off work, and all the unexpected costs that come along with it.
