Dear Reader,
This campaign was established in late 2018 to help fund expenses to attend graduate school at Pacific College in San Diego, California. Thank you to all of my donors! So far, so good! I will share some thoughts here that show the approach to wellness I am learning and will use to help others.
Why do many people get sick? The truth, from my experience, is that people fall ill, physically and mentally, because illness is an injury. Injuries need attention. So, the first step would be to get out of any harmful situations that are causing injuries, if possible. That can be a difficult. Each step towards health that I mention here is not simple, but all have one thing in common.
Paying Attention. Anything accomplished had your attention, and your desire to make it happen.
It is not easy to pay attention in situations that have caused illness, because these are usually overwhelming and chaotic situations. Who doesn't wish their problems would just disappear? In reality, illness is actually a demand from our bodies and our healthy selves to pay attention and change what is not working for us in our lives. This demand is serious, and is requiring a person to focus, desire change, and move to a healthier situation, so that healing can take place. That can be a huge effort for people, requiring energy and persistence, which have already broken down into illness.
The strength to persist can come from making yourself stronger in who you are. Feeling what the difference is between healthy and ill is where you step in and can make the decision to want to be healthy. If you can feel how things that hurt you are not what you want, because you actually feel that "sick" feeling and, now, reject that in your life, then you can try to change where you are being harmed in your life. You remove the poisons and treat the wounds with care, while taking better care, so you will be okay when finished healing.
Imagine the best medical care, with someone who knows everything about you, and has every technique available to fix you. Is this possible? It is, but the surprise is that you are the doctor in charge. If you don't have a focus on health, a new problem is going to show up, because of neglect. Health is a conscious choice. Your healthy choices happen because of your focus and attention on health, which you feel because you are aware.
My goal in studying medically informed bodywork is to offer people total attention to how they feel, so that they can want to feel better, know what feeling better is, and make changes so they fix the many areas of their lives. This is as close to the ideal medical care I described above that I see as possible. It starts with feeling the possibility of something better, knowing what that feels like, and then making that happen.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology plus a broad range of techniques give me the ability to discern what will help a client. I hope to offer my services to anyone in need. No one should suffer, and I know that being in touch with personal healing helps people to care about others. This encourages community, which helps everyone.
I will elaborate further on these ideas over time.
Thank You,
Glen
