In December 2019 Jamie went to the doctor because of a muscle pain in her chest. Being a professional gardener and having had a double mastectomy 5 years prior, her mind was set on a torn muscle. She had test after test done over the course of a few months, and with each test the results looked worse and worse. The cancer had come back and spread to her bones, and with every test they did, they found the spread to be further. Further throughout the skeletal system, then to the lining of the lung.

But the prognosis always seemed good: "If we get in front of the lungs, you will be good and can live a great life for years."

The problem was they never managed to get in front of the lungs. In late July beginning of August Jamie started with these strange episodes that caused her extreme pain and pressure up her spine all the way into her head, the pressure would cause her to lose her sight and hearing while they were happening. The first thought the doctors had was that it was neurological side effects from getting chemo infusions weekly. But it quickly became apparent that was not the cause. She was sent off to several different specialists who all tried to figure out what was going on, leading to a slew of more tests.

A spinal tap was performed and the answer became clear.

The cancer had spread to her spinal fluid and brain. It’s called leptomeningeal metastases and it is very serious and terminal. Left untreated Jamie has a few weeks of life left, if treated, a few months. There are 2 types of ways to treat and the decision on which treatment to choose is still being decided upon. The treatments are very aggressive. One way would administer chemo through the port in the hospital one week on, in the hospital, one week off at home. The other would be the same chemo administered through biweekly spinal taps and then being allowed to come home. Both carry with them their own list of side effects that are being carefully thought over.

Time is of the essence, every day she is slipping faster from this disease.

Husband Blayne and their three girls need support during this difficult time. We have started this "gofundme" to try to help them as best we can. The funds raised will go towards many things, especially end of life costs, funeral arrangements, and daily care for the family. The funds will also help with things that have built up this year and help them to get caught up financially, since Jamie has not been able to work since June or drive since July. We will also be starting a calendar of other things that the family could use help with shortly once the decision of treatment has been made.

In addition to providing a donation if you are able, please help out by sharing this link with others you know, and/or on your social media sites on behalf of the family. As always, lots of love, prayers, jokes and virtual hugs are always welcome!

Jamie would like to extend out to all of you the loving metta prayer she uses daily:

May you be safe
May you be happy
May you be healthy
May you be strong
May you live with ease
