Kids at Crossover International Academy are orphans who have been rescued from the worst of conditions including slavery. These kids now have a home, a school family and access to education - their pathway out of poverty. The school serves students from nursery through 8th grade. In the past several weeks, there have been two attempted abductions and one successful kidnapping of kids on the school campus. The administration has been told they must now fence the 3 acre campus at an estimated cost of $5,000 to $8,000. Construction must begin by mid December and be completed by January 1st or the school will be closed by authorities. In addition, there is a very limited supply of food; the older children receive one meal a day and the younger children receive two meals. This exceptional school is a lifeline for these marginalized kids. One example of their academic success is that in recent national tests for 8th graders, Crossover ranked first among the 36 schools in their region. There is an IMMEDIATE need for money for fencing to keep the school open, as well as money for food and other essential supplies. If the school closes, over 400 kids will lose their home. Further information about the school is available on the Friends of Crossover International Academy Facebook page. Please make donations by December 12th so the school can be kept open for these remarkable kids!
