Hey friends and family!
I am excited to tell you about my recent decision to take a Summer Staff position with Next Step Ministries this summer. This is an outreach ministry based out of Madison Wisconsin that puts together teams to do missions work in different parts of the U.S. and even in other countries. I am thankful to be given the opportunity to help serve in Las Angeles California. I am excited to step out in faith and see what God has in store for me. This is a great opportunity for me to develop my leadership skills, gain valuable missions experience, and reach hundreds of students and community members with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
My position on this trip will be serving on the worship team while also being a team leader and leading out service and major work projects throughout the community. When most people think of LA, we think of fashion, fame and success but it has recently been brought to my attention that not all of LA is like that. In fact, it is known as the "homeless capital of America" (Skid Row). I have the opportunity to partner with local ministries to reach out to broken and hurting people in this part of America. I have recently discovered that I have a huge interest and passion for missions ever since I got the chance to go on a local one to Gary, West Virginia not too long ago. It meant so much to me and changed the perspective I had on life in this area.
This opportunity comes with a cost of fundraising for my housing, food, transportation and recources for the community that I would get the chance to serve in. This trip is over a course of 3 months starting May 23rd and ending August 10th. If you are unable to financially contribute, I encourage you to commit to prayer for my teammates and myself as we embark on this new, challenging journey.
