Medical Expenses and Funeral Costs

A family’s worst nightmare came to life on Saturday, November 14th. The world lost a beautiful, innocent, amazing little boy. Abel Hamlin was just 5 years old when his life was lost in a tragic car accident near Bonner, MT. The vehicle he was traveling in with his mom, Elizabeth Hamlin and her boyfriend Jason Brandle, whose life was also tragically lost, collided with the guardrail and went in the river. Elizabeth survived the crash but suffered both internal and external injuries, including broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a head injury. Elizabeth’s recovery will be far from over when she is released from the hospital and will in fact be just beginning as she faces the world without her youngest baby, Abel.
Abel was a blond-haired force of nature; he had an infectious laugh, a big heart, and a mischievous smile that would all but guarantee he was up to something. He certainly kept Liz and his dad Bret on their toes, but they loved every minute of his bigger than life personality. What he had in spirit he matched in love, he loved his mama and dad, his 5 older sisters and idolized his big brother. There wasn’t anyone who met him that didn’t adore Abel, this is truly a gut-wrenching loss. Abel should be pestering his older sisters, getting excited for Christmas, and snuggling his mama, but everything changed in the blink of an eye and this promising life was cut horribly short.
Many people in Helena know Liz from Lewis & Clark Brewery where she is always ready with a beer and a smile or a sarcastic comment, whichever is necessary. Liz has been my best friend and sister since we were in elementary school and she is easily one of the strongest women I know. She is an amazing friend who will drop anything and help a loved one however she can, whether it’s a late-night sympathetic ear for the millionth time or bringing you your favorite childhood snacks and a bottle of wine, she is always there. Now we need to come together and be that for her, she is a devoted, loving mother and her children have always been the center of her world. She is faced with mounting medical bills and a funeral expense she never thought she would have, in addition to the physical and mental recovery she is facing. I want finances to be the last thing Liz needs to worry about right now so she can focus on healing and recovery until she is ready to go back to work.
Donations will go to her medical expenses, Abel’s funeral costs, and bills until she can return to work. Anything you can donate will be appreciated, there is no donation that is too small during this horrible and tragic time.
*GoFundme is managed by Sarah Yancy. Sarah and Liz have been best friends since they were in elementary school. Sarah will be managing donations and benefits and is authorized to receive funds on behalf of Elizabeth and will ensure she receives all donations. *
