A difficult ask for our daughter and grandchild

It’s hard to even know where to start, but we’re writing this because our family is in a position we never expected to be in.

The last year has been an uphill battle for our daughter. She had to make the incredibly brave, but heartbreaking, decision to leave everything behind to make sure her child was safe. Since then, she hasn’t stopped for a second — she’s been working tirelessly to rebuild their lives from zero, just trying to find a place where they can finally feel at peace.

But starting over is expensive. The bills for the lawyers to sort out the custody stuff and the costs of just getting into a safe environment have become more than she can handle.

We are retired and on a fixed income. We’ve helped as much as we possibly can—covering the rent deposits, legal retainers, legal fees and the daily essentials - but we’ve hit our breaking point. We simply can’t bridge the gap on our own anymore, even though the legal requirements and the bills don’t stop coming.

It is really hard for us to ask for help, but we don't know where else to turn. If you can help, the money will go directly to:

We just want to see them get through this and finally have a fresh start.
