Bill's Recovery

Hi, my name is Matthew Stuckey, and I am Bill’s son.
On August 3rd, 2024, our dad, Bill, was sent to the emergency department because he was showing signs of a stroke, and he was admitted to the Stroke Centre at Trillium Health Partners. After minor tests, the medical team was not able to confirm he had a stroke, and he was admitted to the ICU for monitoring and further testing. Days later, he was moved to the SCU (Senior Care Unit) and had two MRI’s and two CAT scans, along with multiple blood and urine tests. The Neurologist was able to confirm it was a spinal cord injury and informed us it was a complex case, and further investigation was required. On August 20th, 2024, our dad was admitted to Brampton Civic Hospital and was assigned to the Neurology floor. He had a total of three more MRIs, however, the medical team couldn’t provide a diagnosis, but the doctor explained to us that his incident was comparable to a Stroke in his Spinal Cord. On September 24th, 2024, our dad was sent to Toronto Lyndhurst Rehab Centre for recovery. After time with his new medical team, they confirmed that he will unlikely be able to walk again and that they are focusing to regain the use of his hands.
Our dad was given a discharge date of December 19, 2024, but along with that date, we have to take numerous steps to get him home, which will require us to purchase equipment such as: Manual or Electric Wheel Chair, Mechanical Lift and Sling, Electric Hospital Bed, Tilt Commode, Therapeutic Mattress, Ramps/Stairlift and medical supplies for home use.
Our family appreciates the time that you took to read our story. The unexpected incident has left us devastated, but also hopeful to bring our dad home safely and successfully. The goal is to reach $10,000 to help our family with medical expenses during this difficult time.
