The young man in the photo is Nigel, seen here with his young daughter who just turned 3. Nigel has suffered for years due to the effects of a botched medical procedure, leading to many infections and tumours in his body. He has had literally dozens of operations even leaving him partially disfigured. Just a few days ago, he has finally been able to get the substance that caused all this to be removed from his body though an expensive operation in the United States. Unfortunately, this has caused him to lose everything (even his clothes) and he could not get the post-operative care he required. For this reason, he still needs emergency care to recover and for his wounds to heal, and restorative surgery for the disfiguring gaping holes from the operations that saved his life, which are not healing well:

Health insurance does not cover anything but the absolutely necessary and he is now many tens of thousands of euros in debt.

Nigel just wants to live and recover well enough to work, so that he can provide for his baby girl.
