Tuition for Jess

Hi there!

I know that there are a lot of people struggling to pay for college, so you might be wondering why this person deserves help from friends, family and strangers, so I’ll tell you a little about Jess.

She is my oldest and best friend. We met when we were 3 and 5 years old and pretty much grew up together. She also recently did me the honor of being my Maid of Honor in my wedding in April. She is fun, interesting, passionate and motivated. She is the daughter of two amazing and hardworking parents and the big sister to another amazing young woman. She is by far the most loyal person I know, and once you become her friend, she has your back for life. So I want to have hers now.

Jess is about to enter the last of 8 years of college. She originally started in Architecture but after a couple of years of taking classes, changed her mind, as so many of us do. She decided to double major in civil engineering and gender and sexuality studies. As you may guess, the engineering classes were extremely challenging but she pushed through and always challenged herself to be better and work harder than she believed she could. There have been countless nights of studying into the early hours of the morning, stress, fear, and blood, sweat and tears that went into this degree, and she is almost done. A weaker person would have given up long, long ago. Needless to say, it has been a very long road for her. At this point, Jess has exceeded the number of years she is allowed to receive grants and has exceeded the number of credits allowed to still be eligible for loans to help her pay for school. She needs to be able to spend a lot of time studying since her final year will all be upper division engineering classes. If you have experienced this kind of work or know anything about it at all, then you will understand that having to work full time to pay for school instead of studying and focusing on her classes is something that will will cause a lot of stress and impact her in countless ways, so the financial burden needs to be as small as possible so that school can be her priority.

She is looking at roughly $9,000 to pay for her tuition for the year, without books or any other school related expenses.

I know it’s highly unlikely that we will hit that much, but I know that Jess would appreciate any amount of money to help ease the stress of paying for school.

Of all the people I know, Jess truly deserves this help but her stubbornness would never allow her to ask for it so I’m doing it for her. Also, she doesn’t know about this because, again, the stubbornness. So please don’t tell her.

I am going to put the goal at $9,000 but any amount will help. Please share this as far and wide as you can so we can get as much help as possible, but again, keeping the secret from her for now. The semester starts on August 27th but the last day to pay for tuition for the Fall semester is August 24th so I’d like to end the campaign on August 23rd.

Again, anything helps, and just know that it would go to someone who is kind, helpful, loving, compassionate, intelligent, and completely and entirely deserving. I wouldn’t bother with this if she wasn’t.

Thank you.
Brittany
