Hi Everyone,

As some of you may know, I’ve recently lost my dad to a sudden heart attack. This was completely unexpected for my family and I. I have been struggling with this on a personal level, especially since I have a background as a nurse who specialized in cardiology. I am left thinking every day,

“What if?

What if I had been there?

What if I had shared more information? What if I had provided more education? What if I had forced him to get his heart checked?”

I can’t change the past, but I definitely want to help shape our future.

I don’t want anyone else to lose a loved one to this disease.

With this page ‘The Beat Goes On’, I want to share my journey, insights, and facts about this disease. To kick things off, I am going to ride 160km from Campbell River, BC, to Nanaimo, BC, to help raise awareness and funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

So, please, for yourself and your loved ones, check in with your doctor to see if you should be screened for heart disease!
