Two of our PVA Alums desperately need our help. David Martinez, father of Samara (Class of 2007) & Maria (Class of 2010), has been detained in a holding facility after I.C.E. racially profiled him while working to improve IAH Airport. David has lived in the U.S. for 18 years along with his wife Lupe, and his 3 daughters, all of whom are "dreamers".
David has been a model community member and a selfless person. Several years ago he used all of his personal savings to help a friend in a situation similar to what he is currently experiencing.

According to an Immigration lawyer, there will be a sizeable bond set for his release ($8,000 - $10,000). Once released he will, of course, comply with all court mandated demands, including his trial which will determine his future in the U.S.

Total costs could be upwards of $20,000 + (bond fee, lawyer's fees, and lost wages).

I know that our HSPVA family will do all it can to help. All remaining donations, after expenses, will be donated to "United We Dream," which advocates for and represents Immigrants who find themselves in the same circumstances.

The bond hearing  has been postponed until May 3, 2018, at which time the amount will be set and asked for. We need to raise as much money now in order to ensure the bond can be paid.  Page Martinez, wife of Samara and daughter-in-law to David, has been designated, by the family, to withdraw funds from the gofundme account, as she is a legal citizen and, therefore, under no scrutiny concerning her status.
